Working closely with patrol officers, the Tactical Support Unit, Air-1, and Duty Inspectors, Constable VanderDruim leads a team of sworn officers and seven dogs in the pursuit of suspects and the recovery of persons, narcotics, weapons, and explosives.
The K-9 officers work out of the Oshawa and Ajax-Pickering Community Police Offices.
Police canine handlers attend yearly certification courses, as well as national training seminars on tracking, explosive detection and narcotic detection.
