DRPS Board Member: Terry Clayton
14-Mar-2007 07:57 PSTBack | Print Article

Terry Clayton has been an active member of his community for the past thirty years. He has been a volunteer for the Brock Township Fire Department and the Provincial Farmers’ Spiel Committee, and involved in all levels of minor hockey and baseball. Currently he is Vice Chair of the Durham Land Stewardship Council and a member of the Beaverton and District Conservation Club.

Terry brings to the Board 12 years of municipal political experience including Regional Councillor and Mayor for Brock Township. During this time he worked closely with the Durham Police Service to establish the Community Police Centre in Beaverton, and gained insights into the budgeting issues and challenges associated with providing adequate police services over such a large and diverse geographical area. Through these experiences, Terry has developed a keen interest in both rural and urban police servicing issues. The community’s needs, current social issues, and the public’s expectations of police services are areas he continues to be involved in.

Additionally, Terry worked for Bell Canada for 30 years, and currently operates his own business.

Terry looks forward to learning and contributing as a member of the Durham Regional Police Services Board.
