Bruce Boyle, an Ajax resident since 1975, has run a small business specializing in lamp parts for 40 years.
His community involvement includes President of the South Durham Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society as well as serving as a Commissioner and Chair of Ajax Hydro Electric Commission. Bruce was a founding Board member of Veridian, Campaign Chair and Board member for the Ajax-Pickering-Uxbridge United Way, as well as Chair and Board member of the Ajax Public Library Board. He is currently the only male president in Ontario of a shelter for abused women and children, Herizon House, in Ajax.
Bruce has been honoured by Pickering High School as a Friend of Pickering High and recognized by the Municipal Electric Association for his service. In 1998 Bruce received the Ajax Civic Award for outstanding contributions to the well being of the Town of Ajax.
Bruce was married in 1973 to Valerie. They have two children, a daughter who is a Landscape Architect and a son who is a specialty insurance underwriter.
Bruce has been fortunate in his life and feels it is important to give back to the community. He looks forward to the new responsibilities and challenges as a citizen member of the Durham Regional Police Services Board.
