Celebrating Beaverton's "Blooddrive 125"
04-Feb-2009 07:39 PSTBack | Print Article

The DRPS is proud to support Beaverton's 125th anniversary and a community blood donor drive in support of Canadian Blood Services.

Officers from 15 Division have challenged other emergency services in North Durham to support this important community initiative and its potential to save hundreds of lives. We are pledging, as a community, to give 125 units of blood at each of three blood donor clinics this year in Beaverton. The Beaverton clinic traditionally collects 80 units. Every donation can help up to three patients.

Members from the Brock Fire Department and Beaverton Lions/Lioness Clubs joined us today for a launch at the municipal office in Cannington. The attached photo features, from left to right, Sue Harris of Canadian Blood Services, Elaine Umphrey of Beaverton Lioness, Tom Burnett of Beaverton Lions, Brock Twp. firefighter Peter Frank, Brock Twp. Fire Chief Tom Hawtin and Dave Selby of the DRPS.
