28-Apr-2011 10:23 PSTBack | Print Article

A R.I.D.E. campaign in Oshawa last night resulted in five motorists being removed from the road for various drinking and driving offences.

Members of Central East Division set up in several strategic locations near bars and taverns in Oshawa and stopped dozens of vehicles. Four motorists were charged with various drunk driving offences and a fifth received a 72-hour licence suspension.

Central East Division has been conducting spot R.I.D.E. checks all week and continues to use data and reports from technical analysts to focus resources more effectively.

The DRPS conducts spot R.I.D.E. checks throughout the year in various communities in addition to the main campaign - the Festive R.I.D.E. which operates in late November and the month of December each year.
