Police Week Starts Monday

Police officers from various law enforcement agencies including the R.C.M.P. and the O.P.P. will join Durham Regional Police Chief Mike Ewles in a ribbon cutting ceremony next week to officially launch 2012 Police Week, highlighting this years theme Leading the Way to a Safer Tomorrow.

Police Week in Ontario is an annual event dedicated to increasing crime prevention awareness and education for the public and recognition of the law enforcement efforts of all police services. The DRPS display will run from Monday May 14th through to Friday May 18th, 2012.

Police displays at the Oshawa Centre include counterfeit money and detection equipment along with information and showcases from the Tactical Support Unit, K-9 Unit and Traffic Services Branch. DRP will have crime prevention and recruiting information available as well as several DRPS vehicles on site. Representatives from a partnering agency, Neighborhood Watch will also be in attendance.
