A 23-year old Port Perry woman has succumbed to her injuries and a 42-year-old Blackstock woman has sustained serious injuries as a result of a two-vehicle collision this morning in Scugog.

On Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at approximately 7:13 a.m., North Division officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Simcoe Street, between King Street and Scugog Line 4, involving potentially life-threatening injuries. An Oldsmobile vehicle, driven by the Port Perry woman, was travelling southbound on Simcoe Street when it lost control and was struck by a northbound Chevrolet, driven by the Blackstock woman.

Both drivers were extricated from their vehicles and transported to a local hospital, where the Port Perry woman was pronounced. The Blackstock woman sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and remains hospitalized.

Next of kin to the deceased have not permitted the release of her identity.

The roadway was closed for several hours while members from the DRP Collision Investigation Unit were at scene. At the time of the collision, weather conditions were poor.

Anyone with new information regarding this collision or the activities of either involved parties prior to the collision is requested to contact D/Cst. Cecil Bryson of the Traffic Services Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5255.
