|A tree was planted Friday morning (May 30th) at the Durham Regional Police Association office in memory of Terry Ryan, one year after the tragic motor vehicle collision that claimed the popular police officer's life.|
Terry's widow Carol, DRPA President Doug Cavanaugh and representatives of Terry's former unit - Court Services - joined members of the police service at the 8 a.m. ceremony held on Conlon Road in Whitby.
The sugar maple was ceremoniously planted by Cavanaugh, Carol Ryan, DRPA Vice President Tom Bell and longtime friends and colleagues Cst. Dan Ballentine and Special Constable Jim Walker of Court Services.
At the time of his death Terry Ryan was president of the DRPA and Chair of the Police Association of Ontario. A large rock with a memorial engraving will remain beside the tree.
