Male Facing Charges in Two Separate Arsons in Oshawa
Police have laid charges against a 28-year-old male after two separate arsons in Oshawa.
On Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members from Central East Division were dispatched to the area of Athol Street and Albert Street in Oshawa for a garbage bin that was set on fire. The fire caused significant damage to an adjacent building.
On Monday, March 13, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., members from Central East Division were dispatched to the area of Athol Street and Celina Street in Oshawa for another garbage bin that was on fire which also caused a significant amount of damage to a nearby building.
As a result of the investigation, it was determined that both fires were believed to be caused by the same person and both were deemed arsons.
Brandon HAYNES, age 28, of No Fixed Address is charged with; Arson x2, Mischief Over $5000 x2, Possess Incendiary Material for Arson x2 and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2.
He was held for a bail hearing.
