Search Warrant Executed Following Road Rage Incident

A Criminal Code search warrant was executed at a Stratford residence following a road rage incident in Whitby.

On Saturday, March 18, 2023, while travelling eastbound on the 401 approaching Thickson Road, the victim noticed the suspect behind him becoming increasingly agitated. The victim believed the suspect threw an object at their vehicle, and followed the suspect off the highway. Both parties continued eastbound, to the area of Bloor Street West and Park Road South, Oshawa, where they stopped. The suspect approached the victim with an imitation firearm and began smashing the driver side window and mirror of the vehicle. The victim was able to get away, and the suspect fled the area.

With the assistance of Central East Community Response Team, investigators of Central East Criminal Investigations Bureau arrested the suspect in Stratford. A search warrant of the suspect’s vehicle and residence in Stratford was executed, resulting in the seizure of an imitation firearm and the clothing worn at the time of the offence.

Simon MACLEOD-WALDEN, age 31, of Stratford has been charged with: Use Imitation Firearm in Commission of Offence; Assault with a Weapon; Utter Threats and Mischief Under $5000.

He was held for a bail hearing.
