UPDATE: Two Suspects Arrested in Convenience Store Robberies

Investigators have arrested a male and female suspect in relation to two convenience store armed robberies.

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at approximately 6:45 a.m., members of East Division were dispatched to the Circle K convenience on King Street for an armed robbery. The male suspect entered the store armed with a handgun and made a demand for cash. The suspect fled from the store eastbound on foot.  The victim didn’t sustain any physical injuries.

On Friday, November 18, 2022, at approximately 4:50 a.m., members of Central East Division and East Division were called to the Circle K convenience store in the area of Taunton Road East and Trulls Road for an armed robbery. The male suspect entered the store and made a demand for cash and cigarettes while brandishing a firearm. The suspect took cash and cigarettes and fled to a nearby vehicle driven by the female suspect.

The victim didn’t receive any physical injuries.

Police eventually located the suspect vehicle in the area of Highway 2 and Farrow Avenue in Newcastle. The suspect vehicle struck a police cruiser before losing control and leaving the roadway. The suspects fled on foot. With the assistance of the K-9 Unit and PSD Klutch, officers located the suspects in a nearby field. Police also seized an imitation firearm.

Further investigation linked the two suspects to the November 16 robbery.

Kenneth WINGFIELD, age 43, of Oshawa is facing several charges, including: Robbery Using a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm x2; Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance; Disguise with Intent x2 and Flight from Peace Officer.

 Krista-Lynn DARLING, age 38, of Pickering is charged with Robbery Using Restricted or Prohibited Firearm x2.

They were both held for a bail hearing.
