Suspect in Custody After Discharging Firearm in Oshawa

Police have charged a male suspect with multiple firearm offences after he fired a gun in Oshawa.

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Oxford Street and Stone Street. Multiple

9-1-1 calls were received for a male suspect shooting a gun into the air and throwing knives.  

Officers arrived on scene and arrested the suspect without incident. A firearm was also seized.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was acting erratically before firing a gun into the air multiple times. He then approached a car, pointed the gun at the occupants and demanded they give him the vehicle. They were able to exit the vehicle, and no physical injuries were reported.

Brandon JAMES, age 24, from Ajax is charged with numerous offences including: Discharge Firearm Reckless as to the Life or Safety of Another Person; Attempt Robbery Offensive Weapon; Use of Firearm - Commission of Offence x2; Weapons Dangerous; Point Firearm x2; Posses Prohibited/Restricted Weapon Knowing No Authority and Possession Contrary to Prohibition Order.
