Arrest Made in Durham Region’s Seventh Homicide

Police have arrested a 42-year-old male in connection with Durham Region’s seventh homicide. 

On Monday, October 20, 2025 at approximately 1:30 p.m., members from Durham Region police attended a residential address in the area of Thornton Road North and Adelaide Avenue West in Oshawa where they located and arrested a male for the murder of Ibrahim BALA.

The accused, who is the son of the victim, was arrested without incident. 

Sohaib BALA, age 42 of Oshawa has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

He was held for a bail hearing.

Deceased Male Located Outside Residence in Oshawa

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to an unknown trouble call in the area of Mcgrigor Street and Simcoe Street South. Officers arrived on scene and located a male with obvious signs of trauma. Life saving measures were performed, however, the male was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as 80-year-old Ibrahim BALA of Oshawa.
