Attempt Arson at Oshawa Business Leads to 25 Criminal Charges

Two youth are facing charges following an attempt arson at a local business in Oshawa.  

On Thursday, February 19, 2026, at approximately 4:10 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to a report of an armed person at a local business in the area of Simcoe Street South and Bruce Street in Oshawa. 

Police learned that two male suspects arrived at the location in a black Honda and approached the storefront. One suspect used a hammer to break the front door glass, while the second suspect attempted to ignite an incendiary device. A short time later, officers located and arrested both suspects in the area of King Street East and Ritson Road, Oshawa. 

At the time of their arrest, both suspects were wanted on outstanding warrants by several police services.

A 16-year-old male from Scugog is charged with: Arson, Mischief, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5000, Disguise with Intent, Possession of Incendiary Material, Obstruct Police, Possession Contrary to Order, Fail to Comply with Release Order x3, and Fail to Comply with Sentence Order x5.
 
A 16-year-old male from Toronto is charged with: Arson, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, Disguise with Intent, Possession of Incendiary Material, Possession Contrary to Order x2, Fail to Comply with Sentence Order x4.
