Female Arrested After Fleeing a Patrol Vehicle in Oshawa
A female is facing several charges after fleeing from a patrol vehicle in Oshawa.
On Friday, November 21, 2025, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a member of the DRPS RIDE team was on protective patrol when he initiated a traffic stop in the area of King Street West and Thornton Road South. The suspect vehicle failed to stop when the officer activated their emergency equipment. The officer initiated a brief pursuit but discontinued when the vehicle began travelling at a high rate of speed.
A short time later, officers located the suspect vehicle abandoned off the roadway near Park Road and Hillside Avenue after it collided with a large boulder. Police searched the area and located the suspect driver fleeing on foot. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local-area hospital with minor injuries from the collision. The suspect was also wanted on several other charges.
Kathleen Mary LAFFAN, age 39 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Fail to Stop for Police, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, Drive Motor Vehicle – Fail to Display Two Plates, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence, Fail to Remain at Accident, Fail to Give Required Information, and Obstruct Peace Officer.
She was released on an Undertaking.
