Firearm Located in Vehicle After Traffic Stop in Whitby

A firearm was located in a vehicle after officers conducted a traffic stop in Whitby.

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members from Central West Division were on proactive patrol in the area of Dundas Street and Brock Street South when they observed a motor vehicle leaving a private parking lot expressing possible signs of impairment. Officers stopped the motor vehicle and spoke with the driver.  As the driver was providing his documents, a black handgun was seen by officers.  Both the driver and passenger were removed from the vehicle and taken into custody.  

During a subsequent search of the motor vehicle, officers located a quantity of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Arshia KHATAMEH, age 21 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Oxycodone).

 Jalen BAILEY, age 22 from Toronto is charged with numerous offences including: Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Prohibited/Restricted Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine) and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Oxycodone).

 Both males were held for a bail hearing.
