Male Arrested After Firearm Investigation in Ajax

A male is facing charges after pointing an imitation firearm and making threats during an altercation in Ajax.

On Friday, March 13, 2026, at approximately 3:40 a.m., members of West Division responded to an armed person call in the area of Bayly Street West and Monarch Avenue. Two males were involved in a verbal altercation when one of the males brandished a firearm and made threats. The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival.

The victim did not suffer any physical injuries.

On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, members of the West Crime Team, with assistance from the East Crime Team and Tactical Support Unit, located the suspect and took him into custody. Subsequently a search warrant was executed at a residence in Oshawa, where an imitation firearm was located and seized.

This is an isolated incident as the suspect and victim are known to each other.

Hedayatullah ATAL, age 24 from Oshawa is charged with: Uttering Threats, Point Firearm, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Use Imitation Firearm to Commit Indictable Offence, and Carry Concealed Weapon.

He was held for a bail hearing.
