Male Arrested After Firearm Investigation in Courtice
A male is facing several firearm charges after the DRPS Gun and Gang Unit completed an investigation into road rage incidents.
In February 2026, investigators with the Gun and Gang Unit (GGU) began an investigation into a male suspect after it was reported that he pointed a firearm at two different motorists during separate road rage incidents.
On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, investigators with the Gun and Gang Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit (TSU), executed a search warrant at a residence in Courtice. A firearm with a prohibited over capacity magazine was located and seized. The suspect SUV involved in the road rage incidents was also located and confirmed to be stolen and re-vinned.
At the time of his arrest, the accused was on three separate firearm prohibitions.
Le Var Shamari LEWIN, age 48 from Clarington is charged with: Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Firearm, Possess Prohibited/Restricted Device, Possess Firearm with Altered Serial Number, Possess Firearm While Prohibited x3, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000.
He was held for a bail hearing.
