Male Arrested After Using Counterfeit Currency
A male is facing charges for using counterfeit Canadian bills at multiple businesses across Durham Region.
On Saturday, February 7, 2026, the suspect targeted multiple retail stores in Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa using counterfeit Bank of Canada $100 bills. The accused then returned the items for cash refunds in Toronto.
On Friday, March 13, 2026, officers arrested the male in Toronto following a month-long investigation into the counterfeit currency.
Dominic COLEMAN, age 20 from Toronto is charged with: Fraud Under $5000 x4, Uttering Counterfeit Money x4, and Fail to Comply Release Order x4.
He was held for a bail hearing.
Police have concerns the accused used counterfeit currency at other businesses.
