Male Facing Charges After Loaded Firearm, Drugs and Cash Seized
One male is facing charges following the execution of a search warrant.
On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 8:50 p.m., members of the Durham Regional Police Service concluded an investigation which resulted in a Criminal Code search warrant being executed at a residence in Markham. Officers seized a loaded handgun, more than 1,000 grams of fentanyl, a large quantity of cocaine and crystal methamphetamine as well as $100,000 in cash.
Jai’Lyn MITCHELL-CHARLES, age 25 of Markham is charged with several offences including: Possession of a Loaded Restricted / Prohibited Firearm; Possession of a Firearm Knowing the Serial Number has been Tampered with; Unauthorized Possession of a Restricted / Prohibited Firearm Knowing it’s Unauthorized; Possession of a Prohibited Device x3; Possession Contrary to Order; Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine); Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl); Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine)
He was held for a bail hearing.
At the time of the accused’s arrest he was on parole for firearm related offences, highlighting a troubling past of recidivism.
