Males Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Located in Whitby
Three male youth are facing charges after being located in a stolen vehicle in Whitby.
On Saturday, January 17, 2026, at approximately 8:45 a.m., members of Central West Division were on proactive patrol when they observed a stolen Honda SUV in the area of Twin Streams Drive and Country Lane. Officers attempted to block the vehicle; however, it fled the area, hitting a police cruiser. The suspect vehicle collided with a tree a short distance away and three suspects fled the SUV on foot.
Officers, with the assistance of the Remotely Piloted Aircraft System, K9 Unit, Tactical Support Unit, and Robbery Unit, located all three suspects who were taken into custody.
One of the suspects was found to be responsible for a jewelry store robbery that occurred on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the Peoples Jewellers located in the Shops at Pickering City Centre, as well as an attempted robbery that occurred on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Oshawa Jewellery located in the Oshawa Centre. This investigation is ongoing.
A 16-year-old male from Whitby is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x3, Disguise with Intent x3, Fail to Stop for Police, Dangerous Operation, Leave Accident Scene, Robbery, Attempted Robbery, and Possess Weapon Dangerous x2. He was held for a bail hearing.
A 14-year-old male from Whitby is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Disguise with Intent. He was released on an Undertaking.
A 16-year-old male from Whitby is charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000, and Disguise with Intent. He was released on an Undertaking.
