Two Arrested After Payment Skimming Fraud in Clarington
Two males are facing charges after installing payment skimming devices to defraud customers at a gas station in Clarington.
On Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at approximately 7:25 a.m., members of East Division responded to a fraud call at a gas station in the area of Concession Road 8 and Highway 35/115. An employee inspecting several gas pumps discovered card skimming devices on the payment readers. Employees were able to identify the suspects installing the devices through video footage.
Later that day, the suspects returned to the gas station to retrieve the card skimming devices. Officers located the suspects a short distance away and took them into custody. A search of the suspect vehicle located electronic skimming devices and drugs.
Arthick ANTONITO, age 43 from Pickering is charged with: Fraud Over $5000, Deal with Device for Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data, Possession of Credit Card Obtained by Fraud x3, and Possession of Schedule I Substance.
Kajatheepan KARUNAKARAN, age 36 from Toronto is charged with: Fraud Over $5000, Deal with Device for Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data, Possession of Schedule I Substance and Fail to Comply with Probation Order x2
Both were held for a bail hearing.
