Two Suspects Charged in Connection with Multiple Commercial Break-and-Enters

Two suspects were arrested after fleeing a single vehicle collision in Clarington.

On Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 3:10 a.m., officers responded to a check-on-well-being call after a vehicle was located in a ditch. The K9 Unit arrived on scene and determined that the vehicle was stolen. With the assistance of officers from East Division, K9 tracked two individuals to a commercial building in Clarington, where they were arrested. During the search of the vehicle, officers seized a large quantity of stolen cigarettes, lottery tickets, point-of-sale terminals and break-and-enter tools. 

Through further investigation, it was determined that the suspects were connected to two commercial break-and-enters in the immediate area, prior to the collision. Investigators have since charged the suspects in relation to five commercial break-and-enters across the Region.

Brandon HAYNES age 31 from Clarington is charged with: Break and Enter Non-Dwelling Commit X5, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 X2, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 X2, Disguise with Intent X4, Fraud Under $5000, Obstruct Peace Officer, Theft of Motor Vehicle and Fail to Comply Probation X14.

 Michael WINN, age 59 from Oshawa is charged with: Break and Enter Non-Dwelling Commit X4, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 X2, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Disguise with Intent X4, Theft of Motor Vehicle and Fail to Comply Probation X6.  

At the time of their arrest, both males were violating Probation Orders. 

Both males were held for a bail hearing.
