UPDATE #2 Second Suspect Arrested in Durham’s Ninth Homicide

Police have arrested the second suspect in Durham’s ninth homicide of 2025.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at approximately 4:15 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to a call in the area of Park Road South and John Street in Oshawa. The male victim, identified as 44-year-old Jeremy RUSSELL, was located on the roadway suffering from stab wounds.  He was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in life-threatening condition where he later succumbed to his injuries.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, investigators identified and arrested Nicholas ROBBINS.

On Friday, December 26, 2025, the second suspect, Michael WATERMAN, was taken into custody by Peterborough Police Service in connection with a separate homicide investigation. On Monday, January 5, 2026, the DRPS homicide unit took custody of WATERMAN and charged him for the homicide.  

Michael WATERMAN, age 44 from Oshawa is charged with: Second Degree Murder.

WATERMAN was held for a bail hearing.
