Youth Facing Firearm Charges After Fleeing Police in Oshawa
A male is facing several firearm and drug charges after fleeing from police on a dirt bike in Oshawa.
On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at approximately 4:45 p.m., members of Central East Division initiated a traffic stop on a dirt bike after observing it drive the wrong way on a one-way street and at high rates of speed in a reckless manner. The dirt bike failed to stop for police and fled the area.
DRPS 911-Commmunications received calls from bystanders who provided an updated location and advised the driver had abandoned the dirt bike and fled on foot. Officers located the suspect and after a brief foot pursuit took him into custody.
A search of a satchel the suspect had discarded while running located a loaded handgun with a high-capacity prohibited magazine, and drugs.
A 17-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with: Possess Firearm – No Licence, Possess Loaded Firearm, Possess Prohibited Device, Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm, Dangerous Operation, Fail to Stop for Police, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x2, and Fail to Stop – Red Light.
He was held for a bail hearing.
