Food and Toy Drive

The Food & Drive accepts ALL donations of:

  • Non-perishable food items (please check expiration dates)
  • New, unwrapped toys
  • Personal hygiene products
  • Gift cards
  • Cheques (can be dropped off at any DRPS division

Our most needed items are food, teen items (gift cards, hair and makeup products, older games and crafts, sports equipment, etc.), and infant items (sleepers, infant toys, diapers).

For those wishing to make monetary contributions, please note that we can only accept these at our cash boxes located at our five Police Station Front Desks. Cheques should be made payable to Durham Regional Police Service – Food and Toy Drive.

Donations can be dropped off at any DRPS Police Station, Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby, and any Fire Hall in Ajax, Bowmanville, Oshawa, and Whitby.

We encourage you to use one of our drop-off locations. Still, we will attempt to accommodate a pickup of larger donations from community organizations and schools. If your company would like to have a drive to support us, please contact us so we can deliver a poster and arrange to pick up donations.

The Food & Toy Drive runs each year from late November to late December. In 2024, donations can be made from November 20 to December 20.

The Food & Toy Drive partners with over 70 community organizations, food banks, and care homes which support individuals and families across the Durham Region.

DRPS does not give proceeds from the Food & Drive directly to individuals or families. Instead, we will refer the family to one of our many agencies so that help can be received throughout the year and not just during the holiday season.
