Pipes and Drums

The Durham Regional Police Pipes & Drums was formed by Staff Sergeant Charlie Green and Sergeant Roy Good in 1996. The band wears the Durham Regional Police tartan, which was designed, registered and woven in 2024 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Durham Regional Police Service.
Most band members are civilian volunteers. They serve as ambassadors and represent the Service with pride wherever performing; be that at a formal police ceremony, local parade or pipe band competition.

This group travels across the province and internationally to perform at police events or to compete at various highland games. The Durham Regional Police Pipes & Drums currently have competition bands in Grade 3, Grade 4 & Grade 5. The pipe band's mission is to represent and help foster the hard work and dedication characteristic of the Service.
The Pipes & Drums offer a youth teaching program for Highland bagpiping and snare, tenor and bass drumming.
Administration and management of the pipe section and the drum corps, as well as the teaching program, is under direction and leadership of Pipe Major and Durham Regional Police Sergeant Mike Lasseter and Drum Sergeant Ted Berlinghoff.
If you are interested in joining the Pipes & Drums as a beginner or experienced player, or have any questions please contact Sergeant Mike Lasseter at mlasseter@drps.ca.
