DRPS invites community to run with them in the 2026 Torch Run for Special Olympics

THE TORCH RUN IS BACK — LET’S SHOW UP FOR OUR ATHLETES

The Durham Regional Police Service is inviting the community to lace up and join us for the 2026 Law Enforcement Torch Run in support of Special Olympics Ontario.

After an incredible, record-breaking year of support through the Polar Plunge, we’re aiming to make this the biggest Torch Run yet—and we need our community beside us.

📅 Thursday, June 11, 2026
📍 Regional Headquarters (South Entrance), 605 Rossland Rd. E., Whitby
🕙 Registration begins at 10:00 a.m.

This isn’t just a 5K.

It’s a chance to run alongside our members and most importantly, the Special Olympics athletes, to connect, to celebrate their achievements, and to show what community support truly looks like.

Every step we take together helps fund programs that empower athletes across Ontario—building confidence, inclusion, and opportunity through sport.

Get involved your way:

  • Register to run the 5K
  • Cheer along the route
  • Donate or fundraise
  • Purchase a Torch Run t-shirt for  25.00

You don’t have to be a runner to take part—just come out and be part of the energy, and stand with our athletes.

Together, we’ve already built incredible momentum this year. Now let’s carry it forward—shoulder to shoulder with the athletes who inspire us every day.
