Male Arrested After Armed Assault in Oshawa

A male is facing charges after assaulting a female while brandishing a knife during an altercation in Oshawa.

On Saturday, July 4, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to an armed person call in the area of King Street and Simcoe Street. A male was involved in a physical altercation with another male over a cell phone. During the altercation, the suspect brandished a knife and assaulted an unrelated female when she attempted to stop the dispute. Several bystanders intervened and secured the male until police arrived and took him into custody.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

At the time of this incident, the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions.

Faraz MUBASHAR, age 41 from Oshawa is charged with: Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapon Dangerous, and Fail to Comply with Release Order.

He was held for a bail hearing.
