Male Arrested After Driving Stolen School Bus While Impaired in Ajax
A male is facing numerous charges following a collision in a stolen school bus while impaired in Ajax.
On Monday, May 11, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., members of West Division responded to an impaired driving call in the area of Taunton Road West and Westney Road North. Police received reports of a shortened school bus driving erratically before attempting to pull into a McDonald’s drive-thru and colliding with the drive-thru barrier. Officers arrived on scene and initiated a traffic stop, successfully stopping the vehicle. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was taken into custody without incident.
Further investigation revealed that the school bus had sustained exterior damage after the suspect unlawfully entered a bus yard in North York and stole the bus, possibly colliding with other parked unoccupied busses. In addition, the suspect stole radios and keys to other vehicles in the yard.
During the investigation, the suspect provided officers with a false name but was subsequently identified.
Tanner Jon DAVIS, age 38 of No Fixed Address is charged with: Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation – Exceed, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2, Obstruct Police, and Breach Probation x3.
He was held for a bail hearing.
