Male Arrested After Robbery at Oshawa Bank

A male has been arrested after making threats during a robbery at a bank in Downtown Oshawa. 

On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to a robbery call at the CIBC Bank located at 2 Simcoe Street South. An employee was approached by the male who made threats of having a firearm while demanding cash. The female employee complied and handed over an unknown amount of Canadian currency, believed to be approximately $4000. 

The male fled the area but was later located by officers and arrested without incident. 

There are no injuries reported as result of this incident. 

Darren LAZARUIK, age 56 of No Fixed Address is charged with: Robbery, Fail to Comply with Probation Order, and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

He was held for a bail hearing.
