Male Arrested After Striking Pedestrian with Vehicle in Oshawa
A male is facing several charges after intentionally striking a pedestrian with his vehicle in Oshawa.
On Thursday, August 6, 2026, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to a collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Nonquon Road and Mary Street North. A black Volkswagen sedan travelling northbound on Nonquon Road left its lane and accelerated into the oncoming traffic lane, striking a 36-year-old male pedestrian. The Volkswagen fled the area and failed to remain at the scene.
Officers and Emergency Medical Services attended the scene and located the victim suffering from critical life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a local-area hospital before being flown via Air Ornge to a Toronto-area trauma centre where he remains in critical condition.
Members of the Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct their investigation and later located the suspect vehicle parked unoccupied a short distance away.
On Friday, August 7, 2026, at approximately 12:40 a.m., members of the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Oshawa. The suspect driver was located inside the residence and taken into custody without incident.
At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident as both the accused and victim are known to each other.
Carter William BOYCE, age 28 from Oshawa is charged with: Dangerous Operation – Cause Bodily Harm, Aggravated Assault, and Fail to Remain at Accident – Cause Bodily Harm.
He was held for a bail hearing.
