Male Suffers Injuries Following Collision in Whitby

A 91-year-old male is in stable condition after being struck by a Honda sedan in Whitby.

On Monday, September 14, 2026, at approximately 8:35 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to a collision in the area of McKinney Drive and Taunton Road East. A 44-year-old male was driving a Honda sedan southbound on McKinney Drive, approaching the intersection of McKinney Drive and Taunton Road East. The driver conducted a left turn and struck a 91-year-old male on his mobility assister scooter as they were northbound in the crosswalk.

The 91-year-old male suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local area hospital in stable condition. 

The driver of the Honda sedan remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected. At this time the investigation remains ongoing.
