Serious Injuries After Collision in Whitby
Two suffer serious injuries following head-on collision in Whitby.
On Friday, July 17, 2026, at approximately 2:15 p.m., members of Central West Division responded to a two-vehicle collision in the area of Lake Ridge Road and Highway 407. A Hyundai SUV was travelling southbound on Lake Ridge Road near Highway 407 while a Mitsubishi SUV was exiting the Highway 407 off-ramp. The Mitsubishi SUV appeared to enter the intersection, causing the Hyundai SUV to veer out of its lane, resulting in a head-on collision with a Dodge minivan travelling northbound on Lake Ridge Road.
The 24-year-old driver of the Hyundai SUV suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
A 77-year-old passenger in the Dodge minivan suffered critical but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre.
The 69-year-old driver of the Dodge minivan suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local area hospital.
Members of the DRPS Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The roads in the area were closed for several hours
