Two Arrested After Break-and-Enters in Ajax and Whitby
Two males are facing charges following an investigation into a series of break-and-enter and property damage incidents at businesses in Ajax and Whitby.
On Thursday, May 7, 2026, members of West Division responded to a property damage call at Buy and Sell Kings located at 95 Bayly Street West. Police were contacted after security discovered several windows at the business had been smashed.
Investigators determined that at least 15 businesses in the surrounding area, including a bank, restaurant, cannabis store and coffee shop, had sustained similar damage to their storefronts.
The suspects are also believed to be responsible for additional property damage incidents in Whitby.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2026, investigators with the West Crime Team executed a search warrant at a residence in Oshawa. A male suspect was located a short distance away from the residence and taken into custody without incident. During the search, investigators located two stolen motorcycles, a prohibited expandable baton, several dealership keys, a fake licence plate, ammunition, and a flare gun modified to shoot firearm ammunition.
On Wednesday, July 8, 2026, the second suspect was located at a residence in Pickering and taken into custody without incident.
At the time of these incidents, the below accused was on weapon prohibition conditions.
Matthew Gerald PIDGEON-WALLACE, age 31 from Oshawa is charged with: Mischief Under $5000 x17, Possess Firearm While Prohibited x6, Possess Firearm – No Licence, Knowingly Manufacture Prohibited/Restricted Weapon, Careless Use/Storage of Firearm, Drive Disqualified x3, Break-and-Enter x3, Theft of Motor Vehicle x2, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Fail to Remain, Possess Weapon Dangerous, and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
Kody David BURGESS, age 35 from Pickering is charged with: Mischief Under $5000 x6, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 x2, Break-and-Enter, and Theft of Motor Vehicle.
PIDGEON-WALLACE was held for a bail hearing. BURGESS was released on an Undertaking.
