Two Arrested After Stabbing Investigation in Scugog

A male and female are facing attempt murder charges following an investigation in Scugog.

On Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at approximately 9:15 p.m., members of North Division responded to an armed person call at a park in the area of Water Street and Mary Street. Officers arrived on scene and administered medical care after locating a male suffering from stab wounds.

The victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious life-threatening condition, where he was later upgraded to stable.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was brought to the park by a known female. While at the park, the victim was ambushed by the known female and a suspect male who stabbed the victim several times and attempted to force him into a vehicle. The suspects fled the area after the victim was able to defend himself.

On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, investigators located and arrested both suspects without incident in Toronto.

James Leigh HASTINGS, age 36 from Toronto is charged with: Attempt Murder, Aggravated Assault, Forcible Confinement, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Fail to Comply with Release Order, and Breach Probation.

At the time of the incident, the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions.

Shannon Lois Marjorie KEHOE, age 51 from Toronto is charged with: Attempt Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Forcible Confinement.

Both were held for a bail hearing.
