Two Arrested for Firearms and Stolen Licence Plates in Ajax

Two individuals are facing charges after being located with firearms inside a vehicle with stolen licence plates in Ajax.

On Thursday, April 16, 2026, at approximately 5:45 a.m., members of West Division responded to an alarm call on a property in the area of Finley Avenue and Clements Road West. Police received reports of a suspicious vehicle with no lights driving onto the property. Officers arrived on scene and located a female in the vehicle. The licence plates attached to the vehicle were confirmed stolen and the female suspect was taken into custody without incident.

A short time later, a male was located on the property and taken into custody without incident. Break-and-enter tools, drugs, and shotgun shells were located in the male’s possession. 

A search of the vehicle located a shotgun and imitation firearm.

At the time of his arrest, the accused was already bound by a weapons prohibition.

Daniel Alexander CABARIOS, age 40 from Toronto is charged with: Occupy Vehicle with Firearm, Possess Firearm – No Licence x2, Possess Weapon for Offence, Careless Storage of Firearm, Possess Firearm While Prohibited, Break-and-Enter x2, Possess Break-in Instruments, Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Unlawfully Possess Schedule I Substance, and Breach Probation.

Corrine Elizabeth BUTLER, age 45 from Toronto is charged with: Occupy Vehicle with Firearm, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000, Break-and-Enter, and Possess Break-in Instruments.

Both were held for a bail hearing.
