UPDATE #1 Male Arrested Following Stabbing Investigation in Oshawa
A male is facing charges following an investigation into a stabbing that occurred in an Oshawa parking lot.
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a fight call in the area of Simcoe Street and John Street. Police received information that a large group of people were involved in a physical altercation. Officers arrived on scene and located one male suffering from minor injuries and one male suffering from multiple stab wounds.
The victim suffering from minor injuries was transported to a local-area hospital.
The stabbing victim was transported to a Toronto-area trauma centre in serious but non-life-threatening condition, where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, officers located the suspect in Oshawa. He was taken into custody without incident.
Steven Edward MCCARTHY, age 30 of No Fixed Address is charged with: Aggravated Assault, Administer Noxious Substance x2, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Possess Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and Breach Probation x2.
At the time of the incident the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions.
He was held for a bail hearing.
