UPDATE #1 Youth Responsible for Oshawa Shooting Arrested in Bowmanville

A 17-year-old male responsible for shooting a 20-year-old male has been arrested in Bowmanville.

On Sunday, June 14, 2026, at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of Central East Division responded to a shooting in the area of Ritson Road North and Pentland Street. Officers arrived on scene and located a male suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital in serious but non-life-threatening condition and has since been upgraded to stable.

Following an extensive investigation, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, members of the East Crime Team, with the assistance of the Offender Management Unit and Tactical Support Unit, located the suspect and took him into custody in Bowmanville.

At the time of the shooting the accused was on weapons prohibition conditions.

A 17-year-old male from Oshawa is charged with: Aggravated Assault, Assault with a Weapon, Discharge Firearm with Intent to Endanger Life, Possess Prohibited/Restricted Firearm – No Licence, Possession of Prohibited/Restricted Firearm, Careless Use of Firearm, Possess Weapon Dangerous, Carry Concealed Weapon, Point Firearm, and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. 

He was held for a bail hearing.
