Suspect Wanted After Targeted Bank Fraud Scam

Police are searching for a male who targeted an older female in a bank fraud scam.

On Thursday, February 12, 2026, the victim received a phone call from a female claiming to be an employee of a banking institution. The female suspect told the victim that her banking cards were compromised and needed to be repossessed. The victim was told that a representative would attend her residence to take the bank cards and issue new ones.

A short time later, a male attended the victims house and took her bank cards and iPhone. The male suspect told the victim he would return within an hour with new cards and her phone, but did not return.

The suspect subsequently withdrew over $3000 cash from the victims account and made purchases at various businesses using the victim’s banking cards.

The male suspect is described as: Brown, with dark hair, and a mustache. He was wearing a blue jacket, dark pants, and black and white shoes.

Durham Regional Police want to remind everyone not to give out personal information, credit cards, and PIN codes to anyone over the phone. If you have, immediately notify your bank and credit card company, then report it to the police.

Banks will NEVER send a courier to your home to pick up your banking cards or cash.

DRPS encourages everyone to speak to their loved ones about fraud prevention and remind them that when in doubt, call 211.
