DRPS Launches “Operation Freeze” to Reward Positive Youth Behaviour

With the warm weather in full swing, Durham youth might find themselves getting a cool reward for doing the right thing.

The Durham Regional Police Service is excited to bring back Operation Freeze, a fun and engaging way for officers to connect with young community members. Officers will be watching for youth demonstrating positive behaviour and community spirit—and rewarding them with coupons for a free Froster drink at any Circle K convenience store.

Whether it’s wearing a bike helmet, picking up litter, lending a hand, or simply showing kindness, youth who make positive choices may be surprised with a cool treat.

“This program is a great way to recognize the good things our young people are doing,” said Chief Peter Moreira. “It also gives our officers the chance to build relationships and Promote positive community involvement in an engaging and impactful way.”

Operation Freeze is made possible through the support of Crime Stoppers and Circle K, who partner with police services across Ontario to make it a success.
