Firearm and Drugs Seized in Whitby   

Four people are facing numerous charges after a firearm and drugs were seized in Whitby.

 

On Sunday, August 17, 2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of Central West Division responded to break-and-enter in progress call in the area of Taunton Road West and Cochrane Street. Officers arrived and located a vehicle with several occupants. While speaking with the occupants, officers observed open alcohol and conducted a search of the vehicle.

 

During the search, officers located a loaded firearm in the waistband of one of the occupants, as well as a quantity of drugs, drug paraphernalia and cash.

 

The four occupants were arrested without incident. No physical injuries were reported. 

 

Brock Osiris TATE, age 33, from Pickering is charged with numerous offences including: Possess Restricted Firearm Knowingly Not Holding A Licence; Possess Loaded Restricted or Prohibited Firearm, Occupy Motor Vehicle With Firearm, Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)

He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Krista SAYER, age 38, of no fixed address is charged with: Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking; and Having Care and Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor.

 

Shaun Michael GELSINGER, age 37 years, of Whitby is charged with: Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

 

Leah Julia HOPPING, age 28, of Whitby is charged with: Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (methamphetamine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (cocaine), Possess Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

 

All three were released on an undertaking.
