Firearm Seized During Traffic Stop in Whitby
One male is facing firearm charges after a traffic stop in Whitby.
On Sunday, July 27, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers from Central West Division conducted a traffic stop while on proactive patrol in the area of Dunlop Street East and Green Street. Officers detected a strong odour of cannabis from the vehicle and conducted a search. During the search, officers located a firearm, along with two loaded magazines. The suspect was arrested without incident.
Eric RICHARDS, age 41 of Whitby is facing several charges including: Obstruct License Plate; Drive Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available; Carry Concealed Weapon; Possess Firearm Contrary to License and Contravene Section 117(H) Firearms Act Regulation.
He was held for a bail hearing.
