Male Arrested After Armed Carjacking in Bowmanville

A 17-year-old male is in custody after an armed carjacking in Bowmanville.

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, at approximately 4:45 a.m., members of East Division responded to an armed carjacking in the area of Clarington Boulevard and Prince William Boulevard.  

The victim was delivering newspapers and was sitting in his vehicle at a delivery stop when he was approached by two masked suspects, one carrying a firearm. The armed suspect forcibly removed the victim from the vehicle. The suspects then fled the area in the stolen vehicle.

A short time later, officers from Central West Division located the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 401. The suspects exited the highway at Westney Road in Ajax, where the vehicle left the roadway and struck a traffic light pole. Both suspects fled the scene on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, officers placed one of the suspects in custody. 

The second suspect remains outstanding and the investigation is ongoing. 

The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.

A 17-year-old male from Ajax is charged with numerous offences including: Robbery Using A Restricted/Prohibited Firearm; Disguise with Intent; Possess Property Obtained By Crime Over $5000.00 and Obstruct/ Resist Peace Officer.

He was held for a bail hearing.
