Male Arrested After Attempted Carjacking in Ajax

A 19-year-old male has been arrested after an attempted armed carjacking in Ajax.
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, at approximately 1:00 p.m., members from West Division responded to an attempted armed carjacking at a residence near Salem Road and Williamson Drive East. The victim was sitting in his vehicle, parked in the driveway of a residence when he was approached by a male.
The suspect approached the front of the vehicle, pulled a weapon out of his waistband and demanded the victim give him the car. The victim quickly pulled out of the driveway and left the area.
The suspect fled prior to police arrival. Officers from West Division, K9, the Tactical Support Unit and Air1 conducted a search of the area. Air1 located a suspicious male in the area and maintained a visual on the male, while directing officers on the ground to his location. The suspected attempted to flee but was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.
During a search of the suspect, officers located a knife believed to be used in the attempted carjacking.
The victim did not sustain any physical injuries.
Nidhish MATHISUDAN, age 19, of Ajax is charged with multiple offences, including: Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for Committing an Offence, Obstruct Police Officer and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
