Male Arrested for Sexual Assault and Forcible Confinement

A 30-year-old male has been arrested after sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female in Ajax.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, members of the DRPS Special Victims Unit started an investigation after receiving information from Hamilton Police Service that a female victim had been sexually assaulted and forcibly confined in the Ajax area. The suspect picked up the 14-year-old victim in Hamilton and drove her to Ajax where she was confined and sexually assaulted over a period of days.

The suspect was taken into custody on Friday, May 2, 2025.

Gowryshankar KATHIRKAMANATHAN, age 30, of Ajax is charged with: Sexual Assault x5; Sexual Interference x5; Forcible Confinement; Uttering Threats; Assault; Overcome Resistance to the Commission of an Offence/Administer Drug x2.

He was held for a bail hearing.

The victim and accused were known to each other through a mutual connection.
