Man in Life-Threatening Condition After Serious Crash in Whitby
A 39-year-old male remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries after a serious collision in Whitby.
On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 11:10 p.m., members from Central West Division were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Taunton Road West and Cochrane Street. A white Jeep Wrangler was eastbound on Taunton Road West approaching the intersection of Cochrane Street when it collided with a Black Honda SUV that was turning southbound onto Cochrane Street.
As a result of the collision, the five occupants of the Jeep were transported to hospital. Four occupants were taken to a local area hospital with minor injuries. The fifth occupant, a 39-year-old male from Oshawa, who was a passenger in the Jeep, was transported to a Toronto area trauma centre, where he remains with serious life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Honda was transported to a local area hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries.
Members of the DRPS - Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene and investigated the circumstances of the incident. The roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.
This collision is still under investigation, and alcohol is believed to be a factor in this incident.
