Police Looking to Identify Suspect in Hate-Motivated Graffiti Incidents

Investigators are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect responsible for multiple hate-motivated graffiti incidents in Whitby.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2025 members of Central West Division responded to multiple locations of hate-motivated graffiti in Whitby. The language involved is offensive and has a significant impact on our Muslim community. Efforts were immediately taken to remove the graffiti and the investigation remains ongoing. The DRPS Hate Crime Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Investigators are appealing for video footage, including security footage or dashcam, from the following areas:

  • Tuesday, May 20, between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on Thickson Road South between Consumers Drive and Dundas Street East
  • Tuesday, May 20, between 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Dundas Street between Hopkins Street and Annes Street.

The suspect is described as: male, slim build, wearing dark coloured jacket and pants.
