Police Seek Public Assistance in Counterfeit Currency Investigation

Police are investigating two incidents involving counterfeit currency used at the Shell Gas Station, located at 19100 7 & 12 Highway in Scugog, on April 6 and April 7, 2025.

On Sunday April 6, 2025 at approximately 7:05 p.m., a male suspect entered the gas station convenience store and purchased a 12-pack of beer, a pack of cigarettes, and two bottles of soda. The suspect paid using four counterfeit $20 Canadian bills and received legitimate currency as change.

The following day, Monday April 7, 2025, the same suspect returned and again used counterfeit $20 bills to purchase items. In both instances, the suspect was observed leaving the area in an older green pickup truck, which has since been confirmed as stolen.

The stolen vehicle is described as:   a green, older model Chevy pickup truck with Ontario plates 80361T

The suspect is described as: male, White, 50 years old with a heavy build. He had an unshaven moustache and goatee. He was wearing a yellow toque, black hoodie and green and black plaid jacket with a large rip in the back. On the second day he was seen wearing a yellow toque, black leather jacket, black t-shirt with a flying eagle on it and blue jeans.
