Two Children Seriously Injured in a Collision in Oshawa

Two children from Whitby were seriously injured after being involved in a motor vehicle collision yesterday evening in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at approximately 9:10 p.m., members from Central West Division attended a serious motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles on Taunton Road near Stevenson Road North in Oshawa.  It was reported that two vehicles were involved in a T-bone collision.

The collision involved a 2000 Ford Mustang and a 2016 Hyundai Elantra.  Shortly after the collision, the driver of the involved Mustang exited his vehicle and fled the scene on foot.  Police responding to the call for service quickly located the driver.  He was arrested and later charged with Failing to Remain at the Scene of a Collision and Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm. 

Durham EMS and Whitby Fire attended the collision scene and provided medical assistance to all involved passengers.  Three passengers inside the Mustang remained on scene and were transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The four occupants from the Hyundai Elantra were aided by Whitby Fire and Durham EMS.  A 41-year-old male driver was extricated and transported to a local area hospital with minor injuries.  A 33-year-old female passenger was trapped and, after a lengthy extrication, was freed and transported to a local-area hospital with serious injuries.  Two children aged 10 and 5 sustained extensive injuries and were transported to a Toronto area hospital. 

The 10-year-old male is currently listed in stable condition.  The 5-year-old male is currently listed in serious condition.

Members of the DRPS Traffic Services Branch, Collision Investigation Unit, attended the scene to conduct an investigation. The area of the roadway was closed for several hours while evidence was collected.  

Aditya SINGH, age 29 of Oshawa, was charged: Impaired Operation of a Conveyance Causing Bodily Harm x5, Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance, and Failing to Remain Causing Bodily Harm.

He was held for a bail hearing.
